Puerto Rico is home to three hummingbird species, most notably the Puerto Rican Emerald, the island’s only endemic hummingbird. The Antillean Crested Hummingbird extends beyond Puerto Rico across the Lesser Antilles, a chain of smaller eastern Caribbean islands. The Purple-throated Carib, another striking Lesser Antilles species, is found specifically on islands such as Guadeloupe, Dominica, Martinique, and St. Lucia, where it remains one of the region’s most recognizable hummingbirds.-
